<aside> 👋🏼

Hi, Soran here! I’m the director of telos.haus. *website* | instagram

I started telos last year so that my friends could have more space to work, host, and play. It’s been an amazing year so far, and telos has grown too big for me to steward alone. That’s why I’m hiring for a director of coworking & business development interested in shaping the future of our young organization.

Director, coworking, and business development might make this this role sound very serious. It both is and isn’t. Director describes the autonomy and seniority you’ll have. Coworking, heavy with boring WeWork connotations, refers to the core creative community you’ll build around our space. And business development simply means growing our business.

This is a leadership role—as director, you’ll own the coworking side of our operations and everything related to it. This includes space ops, community management, social media, and much more. Alongside me, you will be an operational and cultural anchor for our space.

The deadline to apply is July 1, 2025.

To apply, please email your resume and any supporting info (e.g. portfolio, Loom recording, k-pop dance cover, etc.) to [email protected]. I really just want to get a sense of who you are.

I’m looking forward to meeting you.

about telos

telos.haus is a coworking space and event venue located on the second floor of a warehouse in East Williamsburg. We opened on October 15, 2024.

In the past, our warehouse was once occupied by master screenprinter Alexander Heinrici, who collaborated with Warhol, de Kooning, and Rauschenberg, among others. We still get his mail.

Presently, we take note from places like Dia Beacon, De School Amsterdam, Index Space, are.na, and Komune, among others.

In the future, we dream of mindfully expanding our reach through merch, editorial projects, additional spaces, cute collabs, international partnerships, and more.

Below is some ephemera that will give you a sense of our vibe.

Sometimes people ask about our name. Here is how we explain it on our website:

team

telos is currently maintained by founder Soran Zhuo and programs & studio manager Kasper Klop. Due to the size of our team and the nature of this type of work—everything touches everything—we both have a finger in many pies. (This will likely be the case for you as well.)

business model

telos operates on a hybrid coworking and events model. For the last eight months, private rentals of our space for parties, galleries, pop-ups, and various other shindigs have driven ~80% of our revenue, with coworking memberships shoring up the remainder. This imbalance poses several business challenges: event rentals are unpredictable as a revenue stream, highly labor intensive, and not long-term aligned with the company vision.

Coworking is the opposite of these three things: predictable, lower-touch, and long-term aligned, if the coworking community is curated correctly.

I think that growth of the coworking business will ensure the long-term viability of telos.haus as a project, allow us to be more generous in our support of artists, and create a vibrant community that will enhance all of our other pursuits.
